Photographing a wedding at Saltwater Grille

Every venue has a best hour for photographs and a worst one. We visit yours before the wedding to find where the ceremony light falls, where the family portraits hold up and where the reception needs a little help, so the plan is built on the room rather than on a guess.

From coastal estates to city hotels, Portland weddings carry a traditional rhythm: church or garden ceremony, formal portraits, a seated dinner. We run the family formals quickly and quietly so the rest of the evening can be candid. If we have not worked Saltwater Grille yet we visit it before your day — light, timing, logistics — so nothing about the venue is a surprise on the morning of.

At Saltwater Grille the sun sets at 8:24 PM in June and 5:57 PM in October, with golden hour opening around 7:40 PM on a June evening and 6:13 PM in late September. Start a summer ceremony near 5:39 PM and you will still have the good light for portraits; in autumn move it an hour earlier. The full month-by-month table is on our Portland page.
